AKU®-TEC PEI SOLID RODS or ROUND BARS

Polyetherimide offers high mechanical performance in combination with excellent heat and chemical resistance, high dimensional stability and creep resistance.
Its unique torque resistance among thermoplastics enables it to be used as a cost-effective substitute for small steel parts produced by machining.

PEI (polyetherimide) rods are high-quality plastic rods made from the high-temperature-resistant polymer polyetherimide.

They are characterized by their exceptional heat resistance, mechanical strength and chemical resistance.

PEI rods are particularly suitable for applications that have to withstand extreme temperatures and aggressive chemicals, such as in the aerospace industry, automotive engineering and electronics.

Due to their outstanding properties, PEI rods offer a reliable and durable solution for demanding applications in various industries.

– Very high strength and rigidity
– Very high torsional strength and hardness
– High heat resistance
– High weather resistance
– self-extinguishing
– average resistance to stress cracking

Polyetherimide
PEI for short, is a high-performance thermoplastic from the polyaryletherimide family.
It is characterized by a unique combination of properties.

Properties of PEI:

  • High temperature resistance:
PEI retains its mechanical properties at high temperatures, typically up to around 180°C, and even up to higher temperatures in the short term.

  • Excellent mechanical strength:
PEI has a high tensile strength and rigidity, which makes it suitable for structural applications and components with high loads.

  • Chemical resistance:
PEI is resistant to many chemicals, including acids, bases and various solvents.

  • Good electrical insulation:
PEI has excellent dielectric properties and is therefore often used in the electrical industry for insulators and other electrical components.

  • Flame retardant:
PEI can have flame-retardant properties and therefore often meets fire protection standards.

  • Good dimensional stability:
PEI retains its shape and dimensions well even at different temperatures, which makes it suitable for applications with tight tolerances.

Applications of PEI:

PEI is used in various industries, including:

  • electronics industry:
Enclosures for electrical and electronic devices, connectors, insulators and circuit breakers.

  • Medical technology:
Sterilizable components, housings for medical devices due to its heat resistance and sterilizability.

  • Aerospace:
components for aircraft and spacecraft due to its high temperature resistance and strength.

  • Automotive industry:
Parts that are exposed to high temperatures and mechanical loads, such as in the engine compartment.

  • Industrial applications:
Pump and valve components, components for mechanical engineering, applications in corrosive environments.

PEI is widely used in demanding environments due to its thermal stability, mechanical strength and chemical resistance.
