AKU®-LON PC SOLID RODS or ROUND BARS made of polycarbonate

Polycarbonate has high rigidity and extremely high impact strength.
It also has a high glass transition temperature and heat resistance.
The  continuous operating temperature of PC is between -60°c and approx. +120°C.

PC (polycarbonate) rods are high-quality plastic rods made from the thermoplastic polymer polycarbonate.

They are characterized by their exceptional transparency, high impact resistance and good mechanical properties. PC rods are particularly suitable for applications that require high optical quality and impact resistance, such as in lighting technology, model making and electronics.

Thanks to their versatility and durability, PC rods offer a reliable solution for a wide range of applications in various industries.

  • Extremely high impact strength
  • High strength and rigidity
  • High dimensional stability
  • High heat resistance
  • Good electrical insulating properties
  • High resistance to high-energy rays
  • Notch-sensitive and susceptible to stress cracking
  • sensitive to hydrolysis
  • Medium chemical resistance

The rods are of industrial quality and are NOT optically pure!

Polycarbonate

PC for short, is a transparent thermoplastic with outstanding mechanical and optical properties.

Properties of PC:

  • High impact resistance:
Polycarbonate is characterized by exceptional impact resistance, which makes it resistant to shocks and mechanical loads. This makes it particularly suitable for applications where high strength is required, such as in the automotive industry or for impact-resistant glass elements.

  • Transparent:
PC is transparent and clear, with high light transmission. These optical properties make it ideal for applications where good visibility or transparency is important.

  • Heat resistance:
Polycarbonate has good heat resistance and can withstand temperatures of around 130 degrees Celsius without losing its structural properties.

  • Lightweight:
PC is lightweight and at the same time offers high strength. This combination makes it suitable for applications where weight savings are important, such as in the aviation industry.

  • Electrical insulation:
PC is a good insulator and is used in electronic applications where reliable electrical insulation is required.

  • Flame resistance:
Polycarbonate is intrinsically flame-retardant and often meets high fire protection requirements.

  • Chemical resistance:
PC is resistant to many chemicals, which makes it suitable for use in various industrial environments.

Applications from PC:

Polycarbonate is used in a wide range of applications, including

  • Building materials:
Transparent roofing, windows and safety glazing.

  • Electronics:
Enclosures for electronic devices, display protection films and components for optical data carriers.

  • vehicle industry:
Headlight covers, interior trim and other parts due to its impact resistance and lightness.

  • Medical technology:
Medical devices, laboratory equipment and transparent medical packaging.

The outstanding properties of polycarbonate make it a versatile material in various industries.
