Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene
, ECTFE for short, is a high-performance fluoropolymer known for its exceptional chemical resistance and mechanical strength.

Properties of ECTFE:

  • Chemical resistance:
ECTFE is extremely resistant to a wide range of chemicals, acids and bases. This outstanding chemical resistance makes it extremely suitable for use in aggressive industrial environments, such as the chemical and petrochemical industries.

  • Temperature resistance:
ECTFE retains its mechanical properties at temperatures of up to around 150 degrees Celsius. This makes it suitable for applications in environments with elevated temperatures.

  • Mechanical strength:
ECTFE has high mechanical strength and rigidity, which makes it suitable for structural applications.

  • Electrical insulation:
As a good insulator, ECTFE is used in the electrical industry for the manufacture of insulators, cable sheathing and other electrical components.

  • Weather resistance:
ECTFE is resistant to UV radiation and weathering, which makes it attractive for outdoor use or long-term exposure to sunlight.

  • Low water absorption:
ECTFE absorbs only small amounts of water, which results in low moisture absorption and retains its electrical properties.

Applications of ECTFE:

ECTFE is used in various industrial sectors, including:

  • chemical industry:
pipelines, tanks, pumps and fittings due to its exceptional chemical resistance.

  • Electrical industry:
solators, cable sheathing and other electrical components due to its electrical insulation properties.

  • Construction:
facade cladding, roof coverings and other construction elements due to its weather resistance and UV resistance.

  • Water and wastewater treatment:
Due to its chemical resistance, ECTFE is used for pipes, pumps and other system components in water treatment.

The outstanding properties of ECTFE make it a material of choice for demanding applications, especially when it comes to extreme chemical loads.
