AKU®-FLON PCTFE SHEETS

Like other fluoroplastics, PCTFE is highly resistant to most chemicals.
PCTFE also has the highest hardness, strength and rigidity of all fluoroplastics.
PCTFE is dimensionally stable, very easy to machine and can be used in a wide temperature range (approx. -240°C to +205°C)

PCTFE (polychlorotrifluoroethylene) sheets are high-quality plastic sheets made from the polymer polychlorotrifluoroethylene.

They are characterized by their exceptional chemical resistance, thermal stability and barrier effect against gases.

PCTFE sheets are highly permeable to ultraviolet radiation.

They are particularly suitable for applications that require high resistance to aggressive chemicals and extreme temperatures, such as in chemical processing, the aerospace industry and medical technology.

Thanks to their outstanding properties, PCTFE sheets offer a reliable and durable solution for demanding applications in various industries.

All product designations with ®=reg. product designation, are the property of the respective manufacturer

PCTFE (polychlorotrifluoroethylene) sheets:
Cryogenic resistance, chemical resistance and dimensional stability

PCTFE sheets represent high-quality plastic products that are characterized by their outstanding cryogenic resistance, chemical resistance and dimensional stability.
Features and applications of PCTFE sheets :

Properties:

  • Cryogenic resistance:
PCTFE sheets retain their structural properties at extremely low temperatures, making them suitable for cryogenic applications.

  • Chemical resistance:
They are extremely resistant to a wide range of chemicals, acids and bases.

  • Dimensional stability:
PCTFE is characterized by low thermal expansion and high dimensional stability.

  • Good electrical insulation:
PCTFE offers excellent electrical insulation properties.

  • Lightweight:
Despite their robustness, PCTFE sheets are lightweight, which makes them easier to handle and process.

Applications:

  • Cryogenics:
PCTFE sheets are used in cryogenic applications such as cooling and storage containers for extremely low temperatures.

  • chemical industry:
Due to their chemical resistance, they are used in the manufacture of chemical-resistant containers, valves and pipe systems.

  • Aerospace:
Used in the aerospace industry for insulation materials, seals and components that have to withstand extreme temperatures and chemical stresses.

  • Electrical industry:
PCTFE sheets are used for electrical insulation and components in special applications.

  • Research and development:
Use in laboratory facilities where cryogenic conditions and high chemical resistance are required.

PCTFE sheets offer a unique combination of extreme temperature resistance and chemical resistance.
Their application extends to specialized areas in which the highest demands are placed on cryogenic resistance and chemical resistance.

Polychlorotrifluoroethylene
PCTFE for short, is a thermoplastic polymer known for its high chemical resistance, low gas permeability and broad temperature resistance. Here is a description for PCTFE:

Properties of PCTFE:

  • High chemical resistance:
PCTFE shows excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals, acids and bases. This property makes it particularly suitable for applications in chemical and aggressive industrial environments.

  • Low gas permeability:
PCTFE has a very low gas permeability, which makes it attractive for use in gas and fluid technology. This enables its use in applications where gas barriers are important.

  • Wide temperature resistance: PCTFE retains its mechanical properties over a wide temperature range. It can withstand temperatures from around -200 to +150 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for extremely low and high temperatures.

  • Mechanical strength:
PCTFE shows good mechanical strength and is comparatively stiff, which makes it suitable for structural applications.

  • Low water absorption:
PCTFE absorbs only small amounts of water, which results in low moisture absorption and retains its electrical properties.

  • Electrical insulation:
PCTFE is a good insulator and is used in the electrical industry for the manufacture of insulators, cable sheathing and other electrical components.

Applications of PCTFE:

PCTFE is used in various industrial sectors, including:

  • Chemical industry: valves, pumps, pipes and fittings due to its chemical resistance.

  • Gas and fluid technology: Seals, valves and components in applications where low gas permeability is important.

  • Aerospace: Insulation materials, valves and parts in extreme temperature applications.

  • Electrical industry: insulators, cable sheathing and other electrical components.

Due to its specific properties, PCTFE is a preferred material in industries where high demands are placed on chemical resistance and temperature stability .
