AKU®-FLON PCTFE HOHLSTÄBE untempered

Like other fluoroplastics, PCTFE is highly resistant to many chemicals.
In addition, PCTFE has the highest hardness, strength and rigidity of all fluoroplastics.
PCTFE is dimensionally stable, very easy to machine and can be used in a wide temperature range (approx. -240°C to +205°C).
Due to its unique properties, PCTFE is used in apparatus engineering (pumps, compressors, extreme low temperature applications, seals).
The following dimensions are tool dimensions, i.e. the semi-finished product dimensions are smaller by the material-specific shrinkage of 0.5 %.
On request, these hollow rods are
are also available in a tempered version
in which case the total shrinkage increases to 1.6 %.

PCTFE for short, is a thermoplastic polymer known for its high chemical resistance, low gas permeability and broad temperature resistance. Here is a description for PCTFE:

Properties of PCTFE:

  • High chemical resistance:
PCTFE shows excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals, acids and bases. This property makes it particularly suitable for applications in chemical and aggressive industrial environments.

  • Low gas permeability:
PCTFE has a very low gas permeability, which makes it attractive for use in gas and fluid technology. This enables its use in applications where gas barriers are important.

  • Wide temperature resistance: PCTFE retains its mechanical properties over a wide temperature range. It can withstand temperatures from around -200 to +150 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for extremely low and high temperatures.

  • Mechanical strength:
PCTFE shows good mechanical strength and is comparatively stiff, which makes it suitable for structural applications.

  • Low water absorption:
PCTFE absorbs only small amounts of water, which results in low moisture absorption and retains its electrical properties.

  • Electrical insulation:
PCTFE is a good insulator and is used in the electrical industry for the manufacture of insulators, cable sheathing and other electrical components.

Applications of PCTFE:

PCTFE is used in various industrial sectors, including:

  • Chemical industry: valves, pumps, pipes and fittings due to its chemical resistance.

  • Gas and fluid technology: Seals, valves and components in applications where low gas permeability is important.

  • Aerospace: Insulation materials, valves and parts in extreme temperature applications.

  • Electrical industry: insulators, cable sheathing and other electrical components.

Due to its specific properties, PCTFE is a preferred material in industries where high demands are placed on chemical resistance and temperature stability .
