AKU®-TEC ABS SOLID RODS or ROUND BARS

ABS has good heat resistance and also at low temperatures
high impact strength. It is hard, crack-resistant and has good dimensional stability.
ABS has a continuous operating temperature range of -50°C to approx. +70°C.

ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) rods are high-quality plastic rods made from a copolymer of the three monomers acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene.

They are characterized by their high impact strength, rigidity and chemical resistance.

ABS rods are particularly versatile and are used in areas such as model making, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and the automotive industry. Thanks to their robust properties and easy machinability, ABS rods offer a reliable solution for a wide range of applications in various industries.

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene
ABS for short, is a thermoplastic high-performance plastic produced by the copolymerization of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene.

Properties of ABS:

  • High impact strength:
ABS is characterized by excellent impact strength, which makes it resistant to shocks and mechanical loads.

  • Good rigidity:
ABS offers balanced stiffness, making it suitable for structural applications where strength and dimensional stability are required.

  • Thermoplasticity:
ABS is a thermoplastic material that can be shaped by heating and solidified again by cooling. This enables various shaping options.

  • Chemical resistance:
ABS is resistant to many chemicals, which makes it suitable for use in different environments.

  • Good surface finish:
ABS has a smooth surface and is well suited for aesthetic applications. It can be easily painted, coated or printed.

  • Electrical insulation:
ABS has good dielectric properties and is therefore often used in the electrical industry for the housings of electrical devices.

Applications of ABS:

ABS is used in a wide range of applications, including

  • Automotive industry:
Interior parts, dashboards, bumpers, cladding and other components.

  • electronics industry:
Enclosures for electrical and electronic devices, computer housings, keyboards and connectors.

  • Household appliances:
Housing for household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, kitchen appliances and computers.

  • construction industry:
Pipes, fittings and cladding for construction applications.

  • toy industry:
Toys, game console housings and model components.

  • Medical technology:
Enclosures for medical devices, laboratory equipment and medical instruments.

ABS is widely used in many different industries due to its versatile properties, including impact strength, rigidity and good processability.
