Spark testing devices & testing technology for plastics processors

The DVS requires the inspection ofweld seams, the materials used and the various machining processes as part of the professional processing of plastics.

For the non-destructive testing of plastic welds in tank and apparatus construction, spark testers are the quickest, simplest and, above all, most cost-effective option.

These spark testers work on the basis of high-frequency alternating current high voltage and reliably indicate leaking welds visually and acoustically.

Two CE-approved devices are currently available for the responsible appliance manufacturer to choose from:

PST 100
Pistol-like hand-held device with fexible rod electrode, approx. 1 kg light, with infinitely adjustable test voltage 10 – 55 kV for material thicknesses 3 – 30 mm, only for 230 V 50/60 Hz supply voltage.

ST-AC 100
Handle with probe and flexible rod electrode, approx. 0.6 kg light, connected to a separate generator via a 2 m cable. Test voltage 5 – 55kV for material thicknesses 2 – 30 mm. For
230V or 110V 50/60Hz supply voltage available. Suitable for continuous testing.

We supply DC-based spark testers such as the PHD 6kV, the PHD 1-20kV or the PHD 2-40kV for density testing of civil engineering and structural engineering insulation (groundwater insulation, bridges, flat roofs, etc.), coatings and tank linings in the chemical industry, landfill linings and pipelines in the oil industry.

Thanks to particularly fine adjustment options on some testing devices, it is even possible to test coatings as thin as 10µ .

A large number of different testing electrodes such as the common steel brush electrode (drum brush), bronze test brush, wire gauze electrode, tip electrode for a wide variety of work are available as individual accessories or as a case set. We can supply many other special electrodes on request.

The testing of test ducts, which is mainly required for landfill liners and in tunnel construction, can be carried out using an air duct testing device. This is characterized by the simplest handling and stable design. The delivery includes a small compressor and a compressed air cylinder.

We have special handy, lightweight devices in our range to test the weld seam strength of foil weld seams quickly and easily by means of a peel test on construction sites.

Bending tests of weld seams
as prescribed by the EN guideline or the DVS (German Welding Society) can be performed with a specially developed bending angle tester be carried out. This means that the weld seam strength of sheet materials made of PE-HD, PP-H, PVC-U, PVDF in thicknesses of up to 30 mm can be quickly tested in-house.
