AKU®-FLON ECTFE ROUND BARS or FULL BARS

ECTFE possesses extraordinary impact strength between -76°C and +150°C.
Part of the outstanding product properties is attributed to the very smooth surface and distinguishes HALAR® from other fluoroplastics.
Since ECTFE is very pure, it can be used in ultrapure water and process chemicals in the semiconductor industry.
The barrier properties against oxygen, carbon dioxide, chlorine gas, and hydrochloric acid are 10 to 100 times better than those of PTFE, which enables many applications in chemistry.

  • Very good sliding properties
  • Extremely high impact strength (down to -76°C)
  • Good electrical insulating properties
  • Very high weather resistance
  • High resistance to high-energy rays
  • Not resistant to hot amines
  • physiologically harmless
  • High density
  • Limited resistance to stress cracking
  • Very high chemical resistance at temperatures from approx. +140°C

Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene

ECTFE for short, is a high-performance fluoropolymer known for its exceptional chemical resistance and mechanical strength.

Properties of ECTFE:

  • Chemical resistance:
ECTFE is extremely resistant to a wide range of chemicals, acids, and bases. This outstanding chemical resistance makes it extremely suitable for use in aggressive industrial environments, such as the chemical and petrochemical industries.

  • Temperature resistance:
ECTFE retains its mechanical properties at temperatures up to approximately 150 degrees Celsius. This makes it suitable for applications in environments with elevated temperatures.

  • Mechanical strength:
ECTFE exhibits high mechanical strength and rigidity, making it suitable for structural applications.

  • Electrical insulation:
As a good insulator, ECTFE is used in the electrical industry for the production of insulators, cable sheathing, and other electrical components.

  • Weather resistance:
ECTFE is resistant to UV radiation and weathering, making it attractive for outdoor use or long-term exposure to sunlight.

  • Low water absorption:
ECTFE absorbs only small amounts of water, which leads to low moisture absorption and maintains its electrical properties.

Applications of ECTFE:

ECTFE is used in various industrial sectors, including:

  • Chemical industry: pipelines, tanks, pumps and fittings due to its exceptional chemical resistance.

  • Electrical industry: insulators, cable sheathing and other electrical components due to its electrical insulation properties.

  • Building industry: Facade cladding, roof coverings and other construction elements due to its weather resistance and UV resistance.

  • Water and wastewater treatment: Due to its chemical resistance, ECTFE is used for pipes, pumps and other system components in water treatment.

The outstanding properties of ECTFE make it a material of choice for demanding applications, especially when it comes to extreme chemical loads.
